Denise Maroney is a founding member of NaTakallam and is responsible for NaTakallam marketing, communications & social media. A graduate of NYU (BFA Theatre & Middle Eastern Studies) and RISD (MFA Design), Maroney has created and produced a variety of artistic projects centered around Middle Eastern stories and Arabic themes, including work in theatre, art and textiles. In Lebanon, she founded and directed a nonprofit theatre collective, The (B)IM Project, while working with local schools and communities as an arts & textiles educator. Her experience working in the Middle East and arts, bring a strong visual identity and digital presence to NaTakallam. In her current position, Maroney crafts digital content that reflects not only NaTakallam's work with Syrian refugees, tech and Arabic language learning, but also informs on topics related to social entrepreneurship, arts, history, culture and literature from the MENA region and Arabic speaking countries. This diverse and unique platform sets NaTakallam apart from other language ventures and makes NaTakallam a leading resource for people interested in humanitarian work, social entrepreneurship, Arabic, language learning, MENA region culture & arts. Maroney is Irish- Lebanese by birth, raised between Japan and New York, and is multilingual, though continually struggles with her Arabic!
